Opera Files Antitrust Complaint Against Microsoft with the EU
Håkon Wium Lie, CTO of Norway-based Web browser company Opera and a past AJAXWorld Conference & Expo speaker, spoke out yesterday as Opera ASA filed an antitrust complaint against Microsoft with the EU. Opera wants the EU to 'obligate Microsoft to unbundle Internet Explorer from Windows and/or carry alternative browsers pre-installed on the desktop' and to 'require Microsoft to follow fundamental and open Web standards accepted by the Web-authoring communities.'

Wasn't it Wium Lie too who came up with alternatives to 'AJAX' that recognized the role of CSS... I think it would be great if IE at least tried to follow web standards, but forcing them to adopt them is hard to enforce, as no current browser (that I'm aware of) follows the standards 100%. |
