IBM Pushes a Species of Lotus in the Cloud

A survival mechanism for this economy

IBM has got some cloud-based software that it will host on its own data centers that it calls a survival mechanism in this economy.

Formally known as LotusLive Engage, it's promising to be out by April 7.

It includes integrated web-based file sharing, contact management, online meetings, lightweight project management and instant messaging.

IBM says it enables "Click to the Cloud," an integration with on-premises Lotus solutions that makes it easy to bridge solutions inside the firewall to the cloud.

This is an exciting time in the Lotus arena. LotusLive Engage will equalize the business playing field for small and medium business. Finally, we can use the tools that the "big boys" use. It may even globalize the small business market. If Quickr were also a part of this offering then the package would be perfect. I believe that a lot of small business owners will adopt the Lotus platform now and embrace it's technology. This needs to be exposed to the general public.
