Apparently layoffs have been going on since the summer

Google is significantly reducing the number of contract workers it uses but says it won't cut its staff of 21,123 people, according to the Wall Street Journal. It remains unclear how many of its 10,000 contractors Google will be cut. Apparently layoffs have been going on since the summer.
