Neocleus Enters the $1.8b Desktop Virtualization Market

Virtualization Pioneer Applies Open Source Contributions to Create a New Generation of Endpoint Solutions

Neocleus announced a suite of trusted virtual solutions for endpoints such as desktops and laptops. The solution, Neocleus Trusted Edge, provides the means for employees, partners and customers to connect to corporate resources from any endpoint regardless of its state of security. Neocleus Trusted Edge is also a solution to come to market leveraging Neocleus’ hypervisor open source contributions which include enhancements the company made to the Xen Hypervisor to work directly on endpoints.

Neocleus Trusted Edge is ideal for dispersed organizations where employees, business partners and customers require tamper-proof access to company resources from inside or outside the corporate perimeter. By applying an approach to virtualization that includes an innovative Type 1, bare metal hypervisor, Neocleus introduces a new security and IT management framework that establishes a completely separate virtual trusted environment outside of Windows. With Neocleus Trusted Edge, enterprises address the significant operational issues associated with managing and securely deploying applications, data and services.

Additional benefits of Neocleus Trusted Edge include:

  • Provides a virtualization solution that maintains complete access to all the capabilities offered by the underlying endpoint hardware to ensure performance of the endpoint
  • Easily configured without rebuilding the desktop, eliminating end-user downtime and support costs while creating a more agile IT infrastructure
  • Supports RDP, Citrix ICA and Web interfaces, with the option to run other Windows-based applications upon customer demand
  • Integrates authentication and configuration management tools to provide IT with a virtual endpoint environment that is easy to control while giving users the flexibility to gain access to critical corporate assets from anywhere and at any time
  • Continuously attests and confirms the trustworthiness of the endpoint to enable IT to proactively implement and reliably enforce IT risk policies

“For a financial organization with employees, partners and customers distributed throughout the world, it is critical that we be able to securely deliver applications and services to the endpoint regardless of where people work,” said John Meakin, Group Head of Information Security, Standard Chartered Bank. “Sometimes the endpoint is not under our direct control – as with a customer's PC – so we can’t predict its state of security. We are evaluating Neocleus’ solutions because the company’s virtualization approach offers a way to truly deliver a trusted, secure virtual environment to all our end users without hindering performance or limiting flexibility by having to take control and ”lock-down” their PC. And, because the solution can be extended to any desktop or laptop, we can maintain complete control over how any endpoint is used to access our applications and services on the most dispersed network.”

Neocleus Trusted Edge, with its inherent security functionality, is the first commercially available solution to leverage the company’s desktop hypervisor framework which includes a Type 1, bare metal endpoint hypervisor.

The company intends to build upon the portfolio with additional solutions to address IT requirements for a more controllable and cost-effective endpoint infrastructure, and to meet end-user demands for a more flexible and easily configurable environment in which to work productively.

“Until now, organizations have had to rely on solutions that are susceptible to malware and other business-crippling attacks, and which do not truly address both end-user and IT needs for performance and control of the endpoint,” said Etay Bogner, co-founder and CTO, Neocleus. “Neocleus Trusted Edge serves as a solution for many of our clients because it eliminates the security problems that other virtualization technologies fail to address. Moreover, our approach empowers organizations to operate trusted virtual environments outside of and side by side with underlying operating environments like Windows, resulting in distinct performance and control benefits that were previously unattainable. We will continue to build upon the innovation achieved with Neocleus Trusted Edge and look forward to offering our customers a full suite of virtualization solutions that address their need for a more manageable, secure and flexible endpoint infrastructure.”

Neocleus Trusted Edge is available as either an in-house or managed service. The Neocleus open source contributions will be made available shortly through a community initiative.

For IoT to grow as quickly as analyst firms’ project, a lot is going to fall on developers to quickly bring applications to market. But the lack of a standard development platform threatens to slow growth and make application development more time consuming and costly, much like we’ve seen in the mobile space. In his session at @ThingsExpo, Mike Weiner, Product Manager of the Omega DevCloud with KORE Telematics Inc., discussed the evolving requirements for developers as IoT matures and conducted a live demonstration of how quickly application development can happen when the need to comply wit...
The Internet of Everything (IoE) brings together people, process, data and things to make networked connections more relevant and valuable than ever before – transforming information into knowledge and knowledge into wisdom. IoE creates new capabilities, richer experiences, and unprecedented opportunities to improve business and government operations, decision making and mission support capabilities.
Explosive growth in connected devices. Enormous amounts of data for collection and analysis. Critical use of data for split-second decision making and actionable information. All three are factors in making the Internet of Things a reality. Yet, any one factor would have an IT organization pondering its infrastructure strategy. How should your organization enhance its IT framework to enable an Internet of Things implementation? In his session at @ThingsExpo, James Kirkland, Red Hat's Chief Architect for the Internet of Things and Intelligent Systems, described how to revolutionize your archit...
MuleSoft has announced the findings of its 2015 Connectivity Benchmark Report on the adoption and business impact of APIs. The findings suggest traditional businesses are quickly evolving into "composable enterprises" built out of hundreds of connected software services, applications and devices. Most are embracing the Internet of Things (IoT) and microservices technologies like Docker. A majority are integrating wearables, like smart watches, and more than half plan to generate revenue with APIs within the next year.
Growth hacking is common for startups to make unheard-of progress in building their business. Career Hacks can help Geek Girls and those who support them (yes, that's you too, Dad!) to excel in this typically male-dominated world. The Internet of Things is not only adding billions of sensors and billions of terabytes to the Internet. It is also forcing a fundamental change in the way we envision Information Technology. For the first time, more data is being created by devices at the edge of the Internet rather than from centralized systems. What does this mean for today's IT professional? In this Power Panel at @ThingsExpo, moderated by Conference Chair Roger Strukhoff, panelists addressed this very serious issue of profound change in the industry.
Discussions about cloud computing are evolving into discussions about enterprise IT in general. As enterprises increasingly migrate toward their own unique clouds, new issues such as the use of containers and microservices emerge to keep things interesting. In this Power Panel at 16th Cloud Expo, moderated by Conference Chair Roger Strukhoff, panelists addressed the state of cloud computing today, and what enterprise IT professionals need to know about how the latest topics and trends affect their organization.
It is one thing to build single industrial IoT applications, but what will it take to build the Smart Cities and truly society-changing applications of the future? The technology won’t be the problem, it will be the number of parties that need to work together and be aligned in their motivation to succeed. In his session at @ThingsExpo, Jason Mondanaro, Director, Product Management at Metanga, discussed how you can plan to cooperate, partner, and form lasting all-star teams to change the world and it starts with business models and monetization strategies.
