SYS-CON Media Offers Exclusive 'Where Is Tech Going in 2004?' Coverage by i-Technology Leaders

JDJ's January Issue Contains an Exclusive Editorial by Scott McNealy on His 2004 Predictions, A Cover Story Interview with BEA's

(Montvale, NJ - January 5, 2004) - SYS-CON Media, the world's number one i-technology magazine publisher, announced today its January editorial focus and predictions on i-Technology in 2004.

JDJ's January issue contains an exclusive editorial written by Scott McNealy, founder and CEO of Sun Microsystems. McNealy's editorial discusses network computing, virus attacks, Linux, and software licensing in 2004. McNealy divides his 2004 predictions into five distinct areas, including his concerns about a massive virus attack. "2004 just may be the year when a virus or some other kind of attack causes a network outage on a global scale that could do some real damage to the economy," fears McNealy. "Sobig-F, Blaster, and other worms and viruses did huge damage out there in 2003, as ATMs, airlines, and railroads were forced to 'reboot.' The days are over when a general purpose operating system is secure and reliable enough for these kinds of applications." McNealy predicts "The smart folks are going to take 2003 as a wake-up call, and in 2004 we'll see even more enthusiasm for Java technology and its widely recognized security model."

In January JDJ an exclusive interview conducted by editor Alan Williamson with BEA founder and CEO Alfred Chuang makes the cover story. JDJ's 2004 tech industry focus issue presents the opinions and predictions of some of the most recognized names in the industry including Jeremy Allaire, John Bosak, Tim Bray, Marc Fleury, David Litwack, Rajiv Gupta, Vijay Tella, Bill Ray, Rick Ross, Mitchell Kertzman, Adam Kolawa, and Samuel Greenblatt.

SYS-CON's .NET Developer's Journal looks at .NET and beyond in the coming year in its cover story. Terry Weiss, Brian Loesgen, Andrew Brust, Gary Cornell, Scott Hanselman, John Sharp, Dean Guida, and Tim Huckaby share their 2004 predictions. .NETDJ's January issue also contains an exclusive interview with Microsoft software legend David Chappell. Editor Derek Ferguson talks to Chappell about how he came to focus on Microsoft technologies, and why he enjoys teaching and speaking about new technologies. Chappell comments during the interview, "I want to write the first book a developer reads on a topic and the only book that the developer's manager reads."

LinuxWorld Magazine's January issue presents 20 Linux Luminaries on Linux in 2004. The New Year predictions covered in this issue include Tom Adelstein of Government Forge; Tom Barton of Rackable Systems; Rahul Chopra of Linux for You; Wim Coekaerts of Oracle; Chris DiBona of Konstrux Technologies; Brian Ferguson of McDermott, Will & Emery; Samuel Greenblatt of Computer Associates; HP Linux Team; Adam Jollans of IBM; Chandler Kant of LinuxCertified, Inc.; Jeremy Geelan and Dee-Ann LeBlanc of LinuxWorld Magazine; Ranajit Nevatia of Veritas; Andy Oram of O'Reilly & Associates; Eric Raymond of Open Source Initiative; Thomas Reardon of Openwave Systems; Jordan Rosen of Lille Corp.; John Terpstra of Samba-Team; J.C.
