Canon U.S.A. Expands Cloud-Connected Printer Line with Three PIXMA All-In-One Printer Models

Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, announced today the addition of three PIXMA Wireless1 Inkjet Photo All-In-One (AIO) printers – the PIXMA MG7520, MG6620, and MG5620 printers – that make wireless, cloud-connected printing easy. Each model works easily with the PIXMA Printing Solutions2 (PPS) application and the new mobile-friendly Canon Easy-PhotoPrint+3 web application, which provide easy solutions for cloud-connected printing as well as for the editing and personalization of treasured photos.

A convenient feature included with these models, PPS provides direct access to the cloud from compatible printers, mobile devices and tablets. Users can easily print and scan images and documents from several of the most popular online social platforms and services, such as Facebook®, Twitter®, Flickr®, Photobucket®, Dropbox®, Evernote®, Creative Park and Creative Park Premium along with the newly supported Google DriveTM and Microsoft® OneDrive™. With PPS, users can also check ink model number information, online printer user manuals and other important printer information.

Enhancing the cloud capabilities of the new printer lineup is Easy-PhotoPrint+. This free web-based application provides users with access to photos from their local drive or social platforms to create a large variety of editing options on different mediums, including photo prints, collages, calendars, cards, layouts and stickers. With Easy-PhotoPrint+, accessible on mobile devices and computers (PC and Mac), projects can be started and saved on one device, and completed on another device at a later time.

Helping the end user increase their productivity through wireless capabilities, other key functions of the new printers include the updated PIXMA Cloud Link4, for sharing scanned documents and photos easily by scanning data directly to email, or attaching scanned data to a draft email in their webmail account. Additionally, PictBridge5 (Wireless LAN) functionality allows select Canon digital cameras to connect directly to the printer – eliminating the need of a computer. With Access Point Mode, users can also connect their compatible mobile device to their PIXMA printers directly through Wi-Fi® without needing to be connected to a router.

“With the introduction of these three PIXMA printers, Canon aims to provide high-quality output and cloud-connectivity features that are important for the day-to-day convenience of our customers,” said Yuichi Ishizuka, President and COO, Canon U.S.A., Inc. “Ideal for the home or home-office use, the new PIXMA lineup of printers offer users an array of built-in features and connectivity options to fit any price-point or use.”

New PIXMA Touch & Print Capabilities

With all the photo-printing benefits photography enthusiasts yearn for, the Canon PIXMA MG7520 Wireless Inkjet Photo AIO printer features advanced media handling with a dual front tray, direct disc printing and six individual ink tanks producing output at a maximum color resolution of 9600 x 2400 dpi6. Sporting a compact footprint, the printer has a 3.5-inch LCD touchscreen with the Canon Intelligent Touch System for easy viewing and navigating of menus and images. New to this model is PIXMA Touch & Print7 (Active NFC), which allows users with compatible Android TM mobile devices that are registered with PPS to simply open the PPS app, touch the NFC Tag on the top of the printer while viewing the picture, and begin printing without the need for Wi-Fi. The PIXMA MG7520 printer is available in burnt orange, black, and white with a mirror finish, and will have an estimated retail price of $199.998.

The Canon PIXMA MG6620 Wireless Inkjet Photo AIO printer features a Passive NFC version of PIXMA Touch & Print technology, with similar functionality as Active NFC except that both the mobile device and printer will have to be connected to the same Wi-Fi network in order to print. The printer also features a three-inch LCD touchscreen and produces stunning, high-quality images along with sharp documents for the home or home office thanks to a five-color hybrid ink system. Available in black, white and burnt orange with a matte finish, the PIXMA MG6620 printer will have an estimated retail price of $149.998.

The PIXMA MG5620 Wireless Inkjet Photo AIO printer utilizes five individual ink tanks, four of which are color and photo-dedicated while there is a separate pigment black ink dedicated to text. The 2.5-inch touchscreen allows easy access to printer functions including PIXMA Cloud Link and Google Cloud Print9. It is available in black and white with a matte finish, and has a retail price of $99.998.

WebRTC has had a real tough three or four years, and so have those working with it. Only a few short years ago, the development world were excited about WebRTC and proclaiming how awesome it was. You might have played with the technology a couple of years ago, only to find the extra infrastructure requirements were painful to implement and poorly documented. This probably left a bitter taste in your mouth, especially when things went wrong.
Through WebRTC, audio and video communications are being embedded more easily than ever into applications, helping carriers, enterprises and independent software vendors deliver greater functionality to their end users. With today’s business world increasingly focused on outcomes, users’ growing calls for ease of use, and businesses craving smarter, tighter integration, what’s the next step in delivering a richer, more immersive experience? That richer, more fully integrated experience comes about through a Communications Platform as a Service which allows for messaging, screen sharing, video...

The Internet of Things (IoT) is about the digitization of physical assets including sensors, devices, machines, gateways, and the network. It creates possibilities for significant value creation and new revenue generating business models via data democratization and ubiquitous analytics across IoT networks. The explosion of data in all forms in IoT requires a more robust and broader lens in order to enable smarter timely actions and better outcomes. Business operations become the key driver of IoT applications and projects. Business operations, IT, and data scientists need advanced analytics t...
With the proliferation of connected devices underpinning new Internet of Things systems, Brandon Schulz, Director of Luxoft IoT – Retail, will be looking at the transformation of the retail customer experience in brick and mortar stores in his session at @ThingsExpo. Questions he will address include: Will beacons drop to the wayside like QR codes, or be a proximity-based profit driver? As more intelligent IoT applications shift into gear, they’re merging into the ever-increasing traffic flow of the Internet. It won’t be long before we experience bottlenecks, as IoT traffic peaks during rush hours. Organizations that are unprepared will find themselves by the side of the road unable to cross back into the fast lane. As billions of new devices begin to communicate and exchange data – will your infrastructure be scalable enough to handle this new interconnected world?
Too often with compelling new technologies market participants become overly enamored with that attractiveness of the technology and neglect underlying business drivers. This tendency, what some call the “newest shiny object syndrome,” is understandable given that virtually all of us are heavily engaged in technology. But it is also mistaken. Without concrete business cases driving its deployment, IoT, like many other technologies before it, will fade into obscurity.
Consumer IoT applications provide data about the user that just doesn’t exist in traditional PC or mobile web applications. This rich data, or “context,” enables the highly personalized consumer experiences that characterize many consumer IoT apps. This same data is also providing brands with unprecedented insight into how their connected products are being used, while, at the same time, powering highly targeted engagement and marketing opportunities. In his session at @ThingsExpo, Nathan Treloar, President and COO of Bebaio, will explore examples of brands transforming their businesses by t...

The Internet of Things is not only adding billions of sensors and billions of terabytes to the Internet. It is also forcing a fundamental change in the way we envision Information Technology. For the first time, more data is being created by devices at the edge of the Internet rather than from centralized systems. What does this mean for today's IT professional? In this Power Panel at @ThingsExpo, moderated by Conference Chair Roger Strukhoff, panelists addressed this very serious issue of profound change in the industry.
