Samsung Jumps on the IoT Bandwagon

Start-up will operate all your home appliances with a router that sends out commands that you send over the Internet

There was news today that Samsung has acquired SmartThings, a start up that will operate all your home appliances, including garage doors, with a router that sends out commands that you send over the Internet.



Right now SmartThings have stuff for iOS and Android only. You can buy your stuff now to remodel your home.


Google of course started the ball rolling, buying up Nest, the smart-home thermostat and the Dropcam via Nest to monitor homes with a Wi-Fi camera.


I believe Samsung ($200 million) made a much better deal than Google ($3.2 billion). Read this informative article on the Forbes magazine.
