Tango Salutes the Troops With Cell Phones for Soldiers Donation Campaign in Time for Memorial Day

Text for Vets! Tango to Make Donation for Every Text Sent, up to $10,000

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 05/22/14 -- Tango, the popular U.S.-based mobile app that lets you connect with friends and family via free calls and messaging, announced today a donation drive for the nonprofit Cell Phones for Soldiers.

Tango is offering two easy ways to get involved and help U.S. troops stay connected with their loved ones:

1) Text for Vets
Send a text over Tango to a friend, and Tango will donate .01 cent for every text sent -up to $10,000.

2) Donate a Used Cell Phone
Have a cellphone you don't use anymore? Donate it. The shipping is easy and free for Tango users in the U.S., with a postage-paid shipping label provided by Cell Phones for Soldiers.

Employees at Tango are also getting involved. Tango will set up a collection bin at its Mountain View, California office where employees can make used cell phone donations.

"We are incredibly thankful for Tango's support to our organization and our troops this Memorial Day," said Robbie Bergquist, co-founder of Cell Phones for Soldiers. "We know our troops will always play an important role in peacekeeping missions across the globe and want to afford them the opportunity to call home for free."

"The need to stay connected to those you care about is truly global, and it's especially heartfelt by troops no matter which country or military organization they serve," said Jean-Phillipe Emelie Marcos, chief operating officer for Tango. "Tango is proud to salute the troops by teaming up with Cell Phones for Soldiers, while also continuing to provide one of the leading messaging apps that connects people who are far apart over video, voice calls and texts."

Cell Phones for Soldiers is a nonprofit organization that has been dedicated to providing cost-free communication services to active-duty military members and veterans for the past 10 years. For more information, visit www.cellphonesforsoldiers.com
