Mobile Commerce News Weekly – Week of August 18, 2013

The Mobile Commerce News Weekly is an online newsletter made up of the most interesting news, articles and links related to mobile commerce and marketing, mobile payments, mobile money, e-wallets, mobile banking, mobile ads and mobile security that I run across each week.  I am specifically targeting market size and market trend information.

Facebook, the world's largest social networking company, is planning to test a new mobile payment feature.  It will use payment details added by users to their Facebook account to automatically fill in forms when they make purchases on mobile applications.  Read Original Content

The GSMA has announced speakers for the NFC & Mobile Money Summit 2013 which this year will take place at the Metropolitan Pavilion in New York on the 15th and 16th of October, with additional invitation-only meetings being held on the 14th and 17th of October. The European Commission has cleared a joint venture between Telefonica and two Spanish banks, CaixaBank and Banco Santander.  The EC looked in particular at the venture’s proposed digital wallet. It said “several competing digital wallet providers already exist or are very likely to emerge in Spain in the near future”.  Read Original Content

According to a Distimo report in the first six months of 2013 both Google Play and the Apple App Store have seen considerable increases in their total revenues. The Apple App store saw a considerably smaller amount of growth at 15 percent than the massive increases that were experienced by Google Play at 67 percent.  Read Original Content

Mobile advertising firm InMobi has released its latest Australian Mobile Insights Report, showing that over 2.74 billion ads were served on the InMobi Australia network in Q2 2013 – 845 million more ads than Q2 2012 – supporting the recent findings from the IAB this week that online has finally overtaken TV as the biggest spending advertising medium.  Read Original Content
