MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 03/20/13 -- OnLive, the pioneer of on-demand cloud gaming and computing services, announced that Bulldog United founder Don Gordon is joining the executive team as senior vice president of Engineering.
"I am excited to have Don back on my team as we break new ground in our gaming, computing, and enterprise cloud solutions," said OnLive Chairman Gary Lauder. "Since I first encountered Don while chairman at ActiveVideo Networks, I have been impressed with his natural leadership and ability to drive change."
Gordon is a longtime innovator in the video and TV arenas and will be instrumental in driving the integration of OnLive gaming with tablets, Smart TVs and related devices. He holds more than 55 patents in video compression, manipulation, streaming, fingerprinting, VOD, digital ad insertion and other technologies. At OnLive, Gordon's expertise will also play a vital role in advancing OnLive Desktop, which creates a media-rich, instant-response PC desktop experience on tablets, and in bringing the company's forthcoming enterprise solutions to market, said Lauder.
"Don is a strategic thinker and prolific creator whose innovations have transformed the way we interact with our TVs," said Charlie Jablonski, COO and acting CEO of OnLive. "His creative drive and experience within the TV and cable ecosystems will help us continue leading the way forward as we integrate OnLive cloud gaming into Smart TV technologies, as well as current and emerging connected devices."
Having built and led large engineering teams, Gordon is prepared to help shape the future of cloud services.
"I've always been amazed by OnLive's unmatched ability to deliver rich media instantly over the internet," said OnLive's new SVP. "Now that I have met the team behind it, I appreciate how the company achieved what many said could not be done. I'm excited to contribute to OnLive's success."
Most recently, Gordon was vice president of Broadcast Solutions at Gracenote Inc. In 2009, he founded Bulldog United, LLC, where he spearheaded the development of groundbreaking video fingerprinting technology and led the company through to its acquisition by Gracenote in May 2012. Prior to being president and CEO of Bulldog, he was COO and SVP of Engineering and Operations at ActiveVideo Networks, where he was responsible for re-architecting, developing, and launching the new ActiveVideo product. Gordon has also held executive-level positions at Microsoft, where he oversaw TVD and Microsoft TV initiatives; DIVA systems, where he developed an intellectual property portfolio that includes more than 70 issued and pending patents; and Ericsson. As principal of the Gordon Group, he developed planning and estimating software for the US Navy and entertainment industry clients such as Warner Brothers, Universal, and Disney.
