SYDNEY, March 13, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Good Technology™, the leader in secure enterprise mobility, today announced that Good for Enterprise™ (GFE) has become the first secure mobile container solution to be certified by the Australian Government's Defence Signals Directorate (DSD). The DSD Cryptographic Evaluation (DCE) certification[1] will allow iOS devices secured with Good for Enterprise to communicate and store classified information up to 'Protected' level.

"Protected level security certification is the Holy Grail," commented Ovum Public Sector Research Director, Kevin Noonan. "Across such a broad set of capabilities that Good offers, like email, calendaring, contacts, document viewing and intranet access, it will easily meet the majority of business requirements for most [Australian] government agencies."
The DSD is an intelligence agency in the Australian Government Department of Defence. DSD provides information security advice and services mainly to Australian federal and state government agencies. DSD also works closely with industry to develop and deploy secure cryptographic products.
"As a Commonwealth government department we have a strong requirement to ensure that we adequately protect and secure government information," said Al Blake, Chief Information Officer, Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities. "Deploying Good, with its encrypted container, allows end-users to use their preferred device, minimises the ICT support overhead and still maintains the strong security boundary we require around government information. The deployment has been an overwhelming success and has significantly increased staff connectivity and workplace flexibility.
"As we developed our mobile device management strategy, it became clear that, whilst many solutions would manage the fine detail of the device for us, we would face an increasing administrative and support burden in deploying and managing additional devices. Whilst BYOD was the obvious solution to that overhead, it would not be possible without clear separation between the government and personal data. The use of a secure container solution allows us to protect against the risk of data leakage that can come from using consumer devices and cloud applications in a government context."
In addition to the recently-certified GFE, Good's solutions provide a complete mobility platform to the Government. Although DSD has certified iOS, GFE also supports Android and Windows Mobile. Australian government departments can also leverage best of breed third-party productivity applications such as document editors, and SharePoint file access applications, all secured by Good Technology's application development platform, Good Dynamics. Furthermore, Good Dynamics enables users to build and deploy their own iOS applications, further enriching the user experience, enhancing productivity and all the while maintaining data security.
"DSD's certification of Good Technology's secure container enables Government departments to unleash far more power and productivity from iOS devices without compromising on cyber security," said Chris Roberts, Good Technology vice president of world-wide public sector. "The key requirement for public sector organisations should be to minimise risk of data being compromised, such as 'leaking' from devices or networks."
Good Technology's on premise mobile device management (MDM) solution not only offers comprehensive end-to-end security, but also provides IT administrators with the ability to monitor, manage and support iOS users. Helpdesk personnel can quickly troubleshoot issues, with complete visibility into all iOS devices deployed within a department through the use of a universal dashboard. At any time and from anywhere, administrators can protect networks and data by blocking access from jailbroken devices, in addition to remotely wiping lost or stolen phones or tablets.
