La Tibetan Youth Association in Europe demande l'inscription du Tibet sur Google Maps

ZURICH et DHARAMSALA, India, February 12, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --

À l'occasion du centième anniversaire de la proclamation de l'indépendance du Tibet, la Tibetan Youth Association in Europe (TYAE) adresse à Google une demande urgente : que les lieux tibétains soient inscrits en caractères tibétains sur Google Maps. Afin d'éviter la disparition de l'héritage culturel tibétain, la TYAE lance par la présente le forum de cette campagne http://www.tibetonthemap.com. Celle-ci est soutenue par l'actrice hollywoodienne Yangzom Brauen et les associations tibétaines du monde entier.

Google Maps est le plus important service de cartographie en ligne au monde. Par conséquent, la TYAE appelle Google à adopter officiellement les caractères tibétains sur leurs cartes, en plus des noms en chinois et en anglais. De cette manière, Google contribuera à la préservation de l'héritage culturel tibétain dans la sphère numérique. Avec « Put Tibet Back on the Map » (remettez le Tibet sur la carte), la TYAE propose un forum de dialogue. Chaque visiteur peut soutenir cette campagne et aider à compléter la carte.

Yangzom Brauen : « Une perte tragique pour nous. »

L'actrice hollywoodienne Yangzom Brauen a des racines tibétaines. Elle regrette la disparition de l'héritage culturel tibétain et soutient les demandes de la TYAE : « Notre langue, nos caractères et notre culture disparaissent peu à peu. Une perte tragique pour nous et pour la culture bouddhiste. »

Demande urgente à Google.

Plus de 600 lieux tibétains sont déjà référencés sur http://www.tibetonthemap.com. Les membres de la TYAE ont inscrit les premiers lieux en tibétain, en gardant leur objectif en tête : Google doit mentionner les noms de lieux tibétains sur les cartes. « Il n'existe sur Internet aucune carte précise qui soit affichée en tibétain. Google pourrait changer cela. Les caractères chinois, cyrilliques et arabes sont déjà utilisés sur Google Maps. Pourquoi pas le tibétain ? », a déclaré Tenzin Kelden Losinger-Namling, Présidente de la TYAE.
