SeniorCheQ.com is a new product now available to those caring for the elderly, those with Alzheimer’s, or individuals that become disoriented easily. The new SeniorCheQ service provides a wristband with a QR code for the elderly to wear. Caregivers establish an online account linked to the wristband, which includes information such the caregiver’s phone number, e-mail address, and a photograph of the elderly individual under their care.
Should the elderly individual become lost or disoriented, anyone with a smartphone can scan the QR code on the individual’s SeniorCheQ wristband, which automatically sends an e-mail or text message to the caregiver. If GPS is enabled on the scanner’s smartphone, the notification to the caregiver also includes a map link to the location where the QR code was scanned. People without immediate access to the Internet can notify the care provider by calling the SeniorCheQ Notification System.
The development of this easy-to-use service was led by the growing interest in QR codes and the need to implement an effective and affordable service for those living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias.
The term QR code stands for “Quick Response” code. A QR code is a barcode that is readable by QR scanners, mobile phones with a camera, and smartphones. The barcode can store website URL’s, text, contact details, Google Map locations, and much more.
