A American Samoa Telecommunications Authority (ASTCA) e a O3b Networks assinaram acordos para que a O3b Networks forneça até 1.2Gbps de conectividade de banda larga futura para Internet e outros serviços para a Samoa Americana a partir de 2013.
A O3b Networks está lançando uma constelação de satélites na órbita média da terra que oferece a velocidade de fibra e alcance de satélite para as nações insulares do Pacífico. Como os satélites O3b estão situados em órbita a apenas 8062 km ao longo do planeta, eles estão quatro vezes mais perto do que os satélites geoestacionários que atenderam à Samoa Americana no passado.
