LAS VEGAS, Jan. 8, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- CES 2013 -- Private Communications Corporation, makers of PRIVATE WiFi, a new and innovative product in the security software market, today announced its new personal VPN application for smartphones and tablets. The company will introduce the new VPN app for Android and Apple® iOS devices, including the new iPad® mini and iPhone® 5. A personal VPN app for Windows 8 phones and tablets will soon follow.
It is easy for hackers to gain access to consumers' private data on smartphones and other mobile devices via public hotspots. A recent survey conducted by the Identity Theft Resource Center® (ITRC) in conjunction with PRIVATE WiFi revealed that 79% of respondents believe using a free Wi-Fi connection can lead to identity theft.
PRIVATE WiFi's new VPN app is a simple solution that encrypts data going into and out of your mobile device while using public Wi-Fi, protecting consumers from hackers and identity thieves in any hotspot.
"It does not matter if you are on a laptop, smartphone, or tablet; if you are using a public hotspot you are at risk of a hacker intercepting your private data," said Kent Lawson, Founder and CEO of PRIVATE WiFi. "We felt it only natural to further develop and offer a personal VPN app to keep consumers protected while using public Wi-Fi in coffee shops, hotels, airports – basically anywhere they go."
Keeping in line with the company's already popular VPN software solution for laptops and MacBooks, the new app installs in minutes and immediately connects to a secure server, so you are safe and secure in no time. The clean and concise interface makes it easy for users to navigate from the initial registration steps to viewing usage history to turning encryption on or off.
Available immediately, PRIVATE WiFi's personal VPN app for iOS and Android devices is free for up to 500MB of data usage, $1.99 to protect 1GB or $7.99 to protect 10GB of data. It can be immediately downloaded from the Apple app store at https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/private-wifi/id576420170?mt=8 or the Android app store at https://play.google.com/store.
The app for Windows 8 smartphones and tablets will be available at the end of January.
