Long long time ago, only a few can enjoy computing power until PC became a reality so any one can enjoy computing power at home. There were several steps along the way to made that happen. First was that computer no longer occupy a whole room of space. They are becoming smaller and smaller so it is cost-effective to deliver and it was also possible to be put on a desk. Second was that computer was cheaper. It was no longer a million-dollar machine but a thousand-dollar machine or even a hundred-dollar machine.
Same thing is happening now for cloud solution. Companies like box and dropbox created these nice customer facing cloud solutions, which many companies and MSP (Managed Service Provider) wish they can host and serve their own to customers. There are also companies that want to serve their own employee with a solution like this too. Just like the PC market, there is a market for smaller, easier and cheaper to deploy, user facing cloud solution.
Gladinet Cloud Enterprise was built for this purpose, giving any company and any MSP an easy way to enjoy a self-hosted, user facing cloud solution for file sync and share and team collaboration.
Step 1 – Easy to Deliver Package
For MSPs and companies to enjoy a self hosted cloud solution that focus on file sync and share and team collaboration, the whole solution needs to be packaged in an easy to use way. It shall be easy to deliver, easy to install, easy to config and work right out of box.
To achieve this, Gladinet Cloud Enterprise is built on top of Microsoft Web Platform and is packaged into an MSI (Windows Installer) package. It is very easy to find a Microsoft machine and install the package.
Step 2 – Easy to Setup
Just like the PC business, some users want to have a bigger hard drive or customize a piece of the hardware to fit their needs, the solution need to be flexible to take on several customizations. Among the customizations, these 3 jumps out as the most important ones.
(1) What is the backing storage?
After all, it is a file sync and share and team collaboration solution, it needs to have a backing storage to store the files and folders. Gladinet Cloud Enterprise allows different storage plug-ins, such as file server, NAS and SAN storage in the form of UNC path; or OpenStack Swift, Nirvanix or EMC Atmos private cloud services; or Amazon S3, Windows Azure, Google and HP Cloud Storage services.
(2) What is the user identity manager?
Most companies wants the native integration with Active Directory. Some companies have both internal user and also external user. Gladinet Cloud Enterprise makes it easy to plugin the right user manager for the solution.
(3) What is the brand of the solution?
Almost all MSPs require branding to certain extend. Gladinet Cloud Enterprise makes it easy to brand the solution in the names of the MSPs or the companies.
Step 3 – Easy to Scale
Each single Gladinet Cloud Enterprise is good to support 1000 users. This will be a good enough for most of the companies. This can also be a good start for MSPs. To scale up, simply add servers to the Gladinet Cloud Enterprise server farm as shown in the following architecture diagram.
As a summary, Gladinet Cloud Enterprise makes a big file sync and share and team collaboration cloud solution easy to deliver, easy to install and easy to setup.
