QlikTech Customer Cheezburger Named Computerworld Premier 100 IT Leader

QlikTech, (NASDAQ:QLIK) a leader in Business Discovery – user-driven Business Intelligence (BI), today announced that Loren Bast, director of business intelligence at Cheezburger, has been named one of Computerworld's 2013 Premier 100 IT Leaders. Cheezburger, a QlikTech customer since 2011, is a Seattle-based online humor network responsible for the popular FAIL Blog and LOLcats meme. The company began with the website “I Can Has Cheezburger?” and has since launched or acquired over 30,000 sites.

In 2011, Cheezburger deployed QlikView with the goal of growing its user base and ensuring that site visitors were happy with the company’s services. Bast and his team knew this could be accomplished by understanding what features on the Cheezburger site were driving engagements and visits, and which were not. Bast and his team began to understand of the company’s web activity on a much more granular level, giving them a better assessment of the overall health of the company. Bast can now log the core activities that users engage with, such as page views, content submissions, email behaviors, and so on. The results have changed the company’s behavior. Now, if a new website feature is launched and doesn’t perform, the team receives alerts in critical reporting dashboards that allow them to correct their course.

Each year, IDG’s Computerworld – the IT media brand dedicated to providing peer perspective, IT leadership and business results – announces the 2013 Computerworld Premier 100 IT Leaders honorees, as well as highlights for the Premier 100 IT Leaders Conference. The awards program features leaders, from both the technology and business sides of companies, for their exceptional technology leadership, innovative solutions to business challenges and effective management of IT strategies.

“Loren and the Cheezburger team understand the important relationship between data and business growth,” said Jeff Boehm, vice president of global product marketing at QlikTech. “By taking an innovative approach to how information can be utilized, Loren has helped Cheezburger continue to expand, and in the process set himself apart from other leaders in IT. We’re very happy to see Loren recognized for his accomplishments and think he is an exceptional choice for Computerworld’s Premier 100 IT Leaders list.”

“For the past 14 years, Computerworld has been honoring the 100 top IT and business executives at the Premier 100 IT Leaders Conference, and we are very proud to induct the 2013 recipients into this prestigious group,” said John Amato, VP and publisher of Computerworld. “The Premier 100 IT Leaders Conference has emerged as the nation’s leading and largest peer to peer conference for senior IT and business executives to discuss IT strategy, technology trends, and actionable plans for driving their business forward. Peer based strategies for deploying big data, cloud, mobility, consumer technologies, predictive analytics and more will lead general session presentations and will continue with conversations during networking receptions and informal gatherings. In addition to learning from peers, attendees can discover new IT solutions from sponsoring companies like Good for Enterprise, IBM and Ping Identity.”

The Premier 100 honorees and their achievements will be highlighted in the February 25, 2013 issue of Computerworld, on Computerworld.com and recognized during the Premier 100 IT Leaders Conference, being held March 3-5, 2013, at the JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort & Spa in Tucson, Arizona.

Cell networks have the advantage of long-range communications, reaching an estimated 90% of the world. But cell networks such as 2G, 3G and LTE consume lots of power and were designed for connecting people. They are not optimized for low- or battery-powered devices or for IoT applications with infrequently transmitted data. Cell IoT modules that support narrow-band IoT and 4G cell networks will enable cell connectivity, device management, and app enablement for low-power wide-area network IoT. B...
The Internet of Things will challenge the status quo of how IT and development organizations operate. Or will it? In his session at 19th Cloud Expo, Craig Sproule, CEO of Metavine, demonstrated how to move beyond today's coding paradigm and sh...
What are the new priorities for the connected business? First: businesses need to think differently about the types of connections they will need to make – these span well beyond the traditional app to app into more modern forms of integration including SaaS integrations, mobile integrations, APIs, device integration and Big Data integration. It’s important these are unified together vs. doing them all piecemeal. Second, these types of connections need to be simple to design, adapt and configure...
Cloud computing delivers on-demand resources that provide businesses with flexibility and cost-savings. The challenge in moving workloads to the cloud has been the cost and complexity of ensuring the initial and ongoing security and regulatory (PCI, HIPAA, FFIEC) compliance across private and public clouds.
