Scopely, whose social games have all achieved top 5 status in the iOS App Store, today announced LevelUp, an exclusive developer program creating a new model for mobile game platforms. Leveraging the millions of active users in Scopely's distribution network and the company's multiplayer technology platform, LevelUp will admit a select group of top independent game studios to co-develop innovative titles alongside Scopely's world-class team.
Scopely CEO Walter Driver explains, “Every independent game studio we talk to is worried about distribution and unhappy with the existing menu of partners that promise to help provide a solution. We’re identifying the best teams in the world and working alongside them to develop, design, distribute, scale and monetize their mobile games. By limiting our platform to a small group of partners we can provide exponentially more value and dramatically increase the chances each game will be successful.”
Bubble Galaxy With Buddies, the first game developed and distributed through LevelUp, became the #1 free game on the iOS App Store within six hours of launching in late October. The title was downloaded over one million times in its first week alone with users playing an average of 10 turns per day.
Scopely’s LevelUp platform provides all of the server-side infrastructure needed to create innovative multiplayer mobile games that scale to millions of users and thousands of concurrent requests per second. Scopely also dramatically increases revenue beyond in-app purchases by integrating premium advertising campaigns from brands such as Starbucks and VitaminWater into LevelUp games.
With every title Scopely distributes, the LevelUp partner network becomes stronger, gaining velocity with an ever-expanding global player base. Independent game developers interested in partnering with Scopely through LevelUp can submit an application at www.scopely.com
