CSR plc (LSE: CSR; NASDAQ: CSRE) today announced that HP has entered into a new agreement with CSR to use CSR’s IPS™ Universal Print Interpreter software across HP’s printer, multi-function printer (MFP), and all-in-one (AIO) product lines. This licence builds upon HP’s longstanding adoption of CSR’s IPS print language technology. CSR’s IPS Universal Print Interpreter software is the industry’s only shipping solution supporting all standard print languages – PostScript, PDF, PCL 5, PCL 6 and XPS.
The IPS Universal Print Interpreter solution, deployed in select HP LaserJet and Officejet printers, enables printers to reliably handle print jobs sent from Apple AirPrint™, Google Cloud Print™ and a wide variety of traditional sources such as desktop and graphics arts applications, ERP systems and engineering applications.
“Supporting high-quality printing via Apple AirPrint and Google Cloud Print is becoming increasingly important as the Apple® and Google® platforms become more widely used in both the home and enterprise,” said Anthony Murray, SVP Business Group, CSR. “We are gratified that HP – the standard-setter in the printer market – has chosen CSR for multiple print languages. Our unrelenting focus on compatibility across all print languages ensures that HP’s printers will reliably produce the expected output when printing from a wide variety of sources, including both traditional sources such as notebooks and servers and new sources such as smartphones, tablets and the cloud.”
The CSR IPS family of interpreters supports all standard page description languages (PDLs) with a universal interpreter architecture. IPS interpreters have emerged as the industry’s most widely-adopted PDL interpreters with the most comprehensive compatibility with HP printers, and enable OEMs to deliver colour and monochrome printers and multi-function devices capable of printing complex, graphics-rich documents without losing time, quality or data.
