AVG Named a Finalist in the 2013 Best Mobile/Portable Device Category by SC Magazine Readers

AVG Technologies N.V. (NYSE: AVG), the provider of Internet and mobile security to 143 million active users, has been selected as a Reader Trust Awards finalist in the 2013 Best Mobile/Portable Device category by SC Magazine readers. The winners will be announced at a gala dinner and awards ceremony to be held in San Francisco on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013.

AVG’s AntiVirus FREE for Android App has been chosen as one of the information security industry’s most effective products, which addresses many of the challenges faced by organizations. The Reader Trust Awards competition, which honors best-in-class security products and services, is selected by a panel of readers who represent the circulation of SC Magazine.

“This is one of the most watched award categories, as the finalists have to demonstrate a combination of functionality, manageability, ease-of-use and scalability, as well as customer service and support, to secure the vote of our readers,” said Illena Armstrong, vice president and editorial director of SC Magazine. “Congratulations to those that represent industry leadership not only to SC Magazine editors but to our readers as well.”

The AVG for AVG AntiVirus FREE for Android was selected from hundreds of entries submitted across 34 technology categories. The winners will be selected by a panel representing a cross-section of SC Magazine readership comprised of large, medium and small enterprises from key vertical markets, including financial services, health care, and retail.

Now in its 16th year, the SC Awards showcase the best solutions, services and professionals from across the globe and recognize achievement and technical excellence. SC Magazine distinguishes the achievements of the security professionals in the field, the innovations happening in the vendor and service provider communities and the work of government, corporations and non-profits.

“AVG is honored to be a finalist in this category, voted on by the SC Magazine readers,” said Tony Anscombe, senior security evangelist for AVG Technologies. “We were the first to provide a free security app for Android devices, and have seen solid growth since the launch of our first mobile security product in 2010.
