Thomson Reuters nennt die 100 innovativsten Organisationen der Welt im Jahr 2012

- Die führenden 100 Organisationen übertreffen den S&P 500 gemessen an den nach der Marktkapitalisierung gewichteten Umsätzen um 3 Prozent und schaffen fast 125.000 neue Arbeitsplätze

Eine Finanzanalyse der aufgenommenen Unternehmen verleiht deren Bedeutung insofern Glaubwürdigkeit, als diese Organisationen den S&P 500 gemessen an den nach der Marktkapitalisierung gewichteten Umsätzen um drei Prozent (15 Prozent gegenüber 12 Prozent) übertrafen. Des Weiteren schufen die Gewinner im Vergleich zum Vorjahr 124.214 neue Arbeitsplätze.

Zum ersten Mal erscheinen auch akademische Institutionen und staatliche Einheiten in der Liste. Die beiden, im Jahr 2012 genannten Universitäten kommen aus  Südkorea: die Pohang University of Science and Technology und das Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology. „Die Aufnahme von südkoreanischen akademischen Institutionen bestätigt die Rolle, die Regierungen bei der Unterstützung von Innovation spielen können, aber auch das längerfristige Potenzial der Zusammenarbeit von Unternehmen und der akademischen Welt bei der Verwirklichung von Ideen", sagt Hr. Brown.

Die beiden staatlichen Einheiten, die in der Liste aufscheinen, stammen beide aus den USA: u. z. die Departments of the Army und der Navy. Die Forschung weist darauf hin, dass die Regierung der USA stark in Innovation investiert hat, ganz besonders aber in Zusammenhang mit nationaler Sicherheit.

Die Top 100 Methodik favorisiert aufgrund ihrer Kriterien schnelllebige und äußerst wettbewerbsintensive Branchen, wie z. B., Computerhardware und Halbleiter, in denen die Produktlebenszyklen kurz sind und der technologische Fortschritt von den Konsumenten gefordert wird. Diese technologiegestützten Branchen wuchsen um 18 Prozent bzw. um 29 Prozent. „Das heißt jedoch nicht, dass nicht auch andere Branchen Innovation betreiben", sagt Hr. Brown. „Die Ausgaben für F&E in pharma/chemiefokussierten Branchen zählen zu den höchsten in der Welt. Zahlreiche Organisationen in diesen Sektoren sind extrem innovativ, aber sie halten sich an ein anderes Innovationsmodell."

Weltweite Verteilung
Die USA führen in diesem Jahr mit 47 weiterhin die Anzahl der Organisationen auf der Liste an, gefolgt von Asien mit 32, davon 25 aus Japan und 7 aus Südkorea. Die Nennungen aus Südkorea nahmen im Vergleich zum Vorjahr um 75 Prozent zu; zwei der Neuzugänge kommen aus der akademischen Welt und zwei sind wissenschaftliche Forschungszentren. Aus Europa stammen 21 Nennungen, wobei Frankreich am stärksten vertreten ist (13). Im Jahresvergleich nahm die Anzahl der Nennungen aus den USA und Asien zu, während sie aus Europa zurückgingen.

Untergliederung nach Branchen
Die Halbleiterbranche und die Hersteller von elektrischen Bauteilen führen 2012 erneut mit 18 vertretenen Unternehmen, um 29 Prozent mehr als 2011. Computerhardware nahm mit 13 Unternehmen in dieser Kategorie die nächste Stelle ein. Andere, nennenswerte Änderungen waren die Steigerung um 133 Prozent bei Vertretern der Automobilbranche (von drei Nennungen im Jahr 2011 auf sieben im Jahr 2012) und eine Steigerung um 40 Prozent bei den Herstellern von Transportgerät.

Methodik
Die Thomson Reuters 2012 Top 100 Global Innovator Methodik stützt sich auf vier Hauptkriterien: gesamtes Patentvolumen, Erfolgsrate bei der Patenterteilung, globale Ausbreitung des Portfolios und Bedeutung der Patente gemessen an Zitierungen. Die Peer-Review-Methode wurde mithilfe des Thomson Reuters Derwent World Patents Index® (DWPI), Derwent Patents Citations Index™, Quadrilateral Patent Index™ und Thomson Innovation®, der IP und Intelligence Collaboration Plattform, durchgeführt. Für die vergleichende Finanzanalyse wurde die Thomson Reuters Advanced Analytics for Deal-Making Plattform herangezogen.
