LONDON, November 29, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
New 'All in One' Service Helps Small Businesses Get Online for Less
The majority of new business owners are unhappy with their websites and change them within the first year of trading, according to research conducted by Startups.co.uk, the UK's largest independent support service for start-ups and small businesses.
A survey of over 850 small business owners has revealed that 73% of start-up businesses build a new website within a year and just 12% still use the same website after two years.
Revealingly, over 40% of small business owners are dissatisfied with their websites but don't have the money or time available to design a new one. Most are confused by their web designer's complex and technical language, for example, 38% do not understand the acronym 'SEO' (Search Engine Optimisation) and 48% do not understand 'DNS' (Domain Name System).
39% of new business owners claim to have spent large amounts of money on websites which did not meet their business needs.
In response to the research findings, Startups.co.uk today launches Small Business Websites, which promises to design, build and host quality websites at highly affordable prices.
The customer-focused, low cost, service guarantees access to knowledgeable and clear speaking web designers and is an antidote to the DIY website building services flooding the market. The packages include domain purchase, hosting, analytics, maintenance and content upload, in addition to the design and build.
Lucy Smith, director of Small Business Websites, said: "We were stunned by how few of our customers have websites, and, of those who do have them, many are unhappy with the quality of the websites and end up spending more money in the long run on updates or complete rebuilds.
"The research we have carried out clearly shows that websites are complex but vitally important for new businesses. Despite the hype, DIY website building services are not that easy to use unless you are technically competent, and, too often, small business owners are paying for poor quality websites that are hard to update without support."
Small Business Websites' all-in-one packages start from £249. First draft designs are turned around in 3-8 days (package dependent) and sites go live within weeks.
