SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 26, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- ICAP Patent Brokerage announces for auction a non-exclusive, transferable, fully paid-up license to US Pat. Nos. 7,873,623; 7,716,205 and 7,716,179 and associated counterparts, all of which are currently assigned at the USPTO to Google, Inc. This license is held by Jildy, Inc. and relates to: (i) "link based," user-driven ranking of web pages, at scale, using user attention data; and (ii) the construction of a large distributed Internet search engine, by coupling together millions of individual computers, through the use of a distributed hash table file system.

This lot will also gain title to, and the right to continue to prosecute, two pending US Patent applications of Jildy, Inc. relating to search, advertising and social networking.
This intellectual property portfolio will be included in the 17th ICAP Ocean Tomo IP Auction on November 29, 2012, at The Ritz Carlton in San Francisco, California.
"We are excited to be offering this license and patent application package to our global base of buyers. With the continued advent of mobile computing, search and social networks, this IP package will not only enable a purchaser to practice the inventions disclosed in the patents covered by the license, but to develop additional IP rights around search and social networking. It's an opportunity not to be missed," says Dean Becker, CEO of ICAP Patent Brokerage.
Key Characteristics & Benefits
The techniques patented and covered by the license provide web page search results according to the "actual surfer model" as opposed to the "random surfer model," making use of information regarding what links are actually accessed, by whom and how frequently, and scaled accurately through a proprietary mathematical algorithm. As link structures have become increasingly "spam-able," it has become more important to pay attention to the actual links that real people click on. It's hard to do this in a mathematically rigorous way, at extremely large scale, and this is exactly what the referenced patents describe. The pending applications are focused on actual user activity, newsfeeds, interests and preferences in conjunction with "real-time" keyword search and social graphing.
See this technical description of the search technology license and social graphing and keyword search IP offering.
