Nottingham, United Kingdom, November 13, 2012 --(PR.com)-- EVE, is an add-on that lets all your wireless devices talk to a Raspberry Pi mini computer, is the latest offering from Ciseco. EVE allows devices such as wireless temperature sensors, automatic light switches, energy monitors and almost anything else you can automate or monitor (which is almost everything from cat flaps to thermostats), to speak to each other. About 80% of current wireless devices, even of different makes and types will be compatible and can be co-ordinated by EVE. EVE compliments Ciseco’s existing products range such as the XRF wireless module and the new Xino RF a wireless microcontroller based on the popular Arduino prototyping platform. Ciseco are the only UK manufacturer of radio enabled versions of the popular Arduino prototyping system. Like the Arduino, EVE is open source meaning that the EVE design will be available for anyone to reproduce or improve. From California to Japan the supporters keep arriving. It seems the new worldwide wave of Internet of Things is gaining some real traction now.
Ciseco has been growing steadily since it was founded by CTO Miles Hodkinson 6 years ago. “I’m really proud that we are bucking the trend in UK manufacturing and export 4 times more than we sell within the UK.” Ciseco’s recent growth has led to major purchases of new machinery, an increase in the workforce and a move to the Clean Technology Centre In Lenton, Nottingham. The company hopes to remain number one in the UK for the Internet of Things and see continuous R&D as the way to maintain their lead.
EVE is also about green technology. When all the devices in the home can talk to each other it can help the environment. Wouldn’t it be better if your house could manage itself cheaply and easily? When your gas heating can be managed based on real data like the temperature, the weather forecast, the number of people at home and even the activity you are doing? In fact, the possibilities are endless. The EVE project is anticipated to be an ongoing area of growth at the heart of the automation and home monitoring boom as well as a catalyst that will spur development for the Internet of Things
Ciseco, who assemble all their products in Nottingham are delighted with the interest in their Kickstarter campaign which, once funding is completed, will ship to enthusiasts the in late November. Miles Hodkinson said, “We’ve committed to shipping EVE this month after our Kickstarter campaign closes. We know that many backers share our passion and will want to get their hands on EVE as soon as possible.”
The funding will be used for the first production run of the EVE board. Software will follow to connect devices, manage them and let them talk to each other and the world. By distributing EVE to as many enthusiasts as possible it is anticipated that open source software will be developed quickly. Software will be available free to download from the Ciseco website.
