WARSAW, Ind., Nov. 8, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Zimmer Holdings, Inc. (NYSE and SIX: ZMH), a global leader in musculoskeletal health, today announced a new app for smartphones that is now available globally.  The application, Zimmer Comeback, uses the GPS in a user's smartphone to record time and distance while walking or running.  Zimmer will donate one dollar to the Arthritis Foundation for every mile users walk or run.  Users can take photos, share their miles on Facebook and follow the leaderboard on the Zimmer Facebook page comeback.zimmer.com.  Zimmer Comeback is free and available now in the Apple iTunes store and Google Play.

Public health agencies support physical activity as a self-management strategy for adults with arthritis.  In 2010, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Arthritis Foundation released A National Public Health Agenda listing physical activity as a priority intervention to improve arthritis symptoms and prevent arthritis-related limitations in activity.  In addition to public health agencies promoting physical activity to manage arthritis, the American College of Rheumatology also recommends physical activity for almost all forms of arthritis.
