KITCHENER, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 11/06/12 -- Transportation app creator BigRoad announced today it has been selected by the C100 organization to participate in 48hrs in the Valley, a bi-annual event that invites 20 of Canada's most promising start ups to Silicon Valley to join in two days of mentorship, workshops, investor meetings and networking.
The C100 flagship mentorship program is put on in conjunction with the Canadian Consulate in San Francisco and Palo Alto. Through its participation in 48hrs, BigRoad joins a celebrated alumni network that includes Frank&Oak, Ethical Ocean, Kik Interactive, ShopLocket and TribeHR.
BigRoad's app is specifically designed with truck drivers and small fleet owners in mind, and is aimed at greatly improving life on the road. It replaces time consuming and error prone paper logbooks required for roadside inspection by authorities such as the Department of Transport (DOT) with a free and easy to use smartphone based electronic logging system that improves driver record accuracy and saves fleets money. Additional features include in-app messaging, real-time GPS-based navigation and traffic monitoring, and the ability to exchange photos and document records for payroll, POD and vehicle/load damage.
"The BigRoad app has been downloaded by more than 25,000 drivers and is in trial with more than 250 fleets all across North America - market adoption that has been achieved organically and with no marketing spend. And we're hearing resoundingly good feedback from our users," says BigRoad CEO Kelly Frey. "We are on the brink of technology disruption in the transportation industry as fleets and drivers reject expensive, complicated big hardware and embrace nimble, cost effective, smartphone based apps to perform the same job - only better. We are very excited to be selected to join the C100 48hrs in the Valley cohort, and to be given an opportunity to tell our story to what we know will be a very receptive US investment audience."

BigRoad's app for Android is available free for download directly from Google Play using the following link:

An iPhone version of the app is expected later this fall. The Fleet enabled version is just $15 per month per vehicle and a fleet can be up and running in literally minutes. A free trial of the fleet version can be found here http://app.bigroad.com/sign-up/create-account.
