OmniTI, a provider of web application development and infrastructure management for companies that require scalable, high-performance, mission critical solutions, today announced the introduction of support packages for the Apache Traffic Server™ (ATS) Open Source software.
OmniTI is offering both standard and premium level services packages. Both options provide support for an unlimited number of servers and support requests, and include options for 24x7 support and the ability to get "hot fixes,” or patches for bugs, ahead of inclusion in the main ATS release. The Premium Support package also includes a two node subscription to Circonus, the next-generation monitoring platform, with metrics made available specifically for ATS monitoring. In addition to the new support offerings, OmniTI also provides custom plugin and feature development for Apache Traffic Server as part of its service.
Originally developed by Inktomi, and later acquired and open sourced by Yahoo!, Apache Traffic Server is one of the leading open source caching proxy servers available today. Through its own scalability consulting work, OmniTI has been working with ATS for several years. During that time, OmniTI developers have used it under extremely demanding, high traffic, and mission critical production loads, become highly involved in the Apache open source project, and actively participate in its development as core contributors.
"We've used ATS for years in our client environments and have been impressed with the software and the community behind it,” said Robert Treat, COO of OmniTI. “Until now we’ve included ATS support as a part of our web engineering and infrastructure management engagements, but did not have a formal offering. With the launch of our Apache Traffic Server support packages; we can now deliver a customized and more formal level of service to more companies, making it easier for organizations to manage their ATS deployments."
Pricing and Availability
The OmniTI ATS support packages are
available immediately and prices range from $12,000-$25,000 annually.

About
Apache Traffic Server
Apache Traffic Server™ software is a
fast, scalable and extensible HTTP/1.1 compliant caching proxy server.
Formerly a commercial product, Yahoo! donated it to the Apache
Foundation, and it is now an Apache TLP. It is a general-purpose
implementation that can be used to proxy and cache a variety of
workloads, from single site acceleration to CDN deployment and very
large ISP proxy caching. The Apache Software Foundation is not
associated with and does not recommend any consulting resource.
