SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 04/11/12 -- AppCentral, Inc., the leader in mobile application management, today announced the appointments of Richard Greene as president and chief executive officer and Pete Buhl as chief operating officer. Greene previously served as vice president of global partners at McAfee, Inc. overseeing the adoption of SaaS-based mobile security solutions. Buhl was previously co-founding partner at BlueRun Ventures.
In addition to his recent mobile involvement, Greene brings more than 20 years of global enterprise and security experience to AppCentral. Prior to McAfee, Greene held leadership positions at Securify (acquired by Secure Computing/McAfee), Orbital Data (acquired by Citrix) and Sanctum (acquired by Watchfire/IBM).
Buhl joins AppCentral with over 25 years in the technology industry. At BlueRun Ventures he helped raise $1 billion across four funds and oversaw many aspects of the firm's operating activities while focusing on enterprise, mobile and Internet investments. Buhl has served on the boards of Netli (acquired by Akamai), Like.com (acquired by Google), PayPal (acquired by eBay), Bitfone (acquired by HP) and Location Labs, among others.
"In our 'bring-your-own-device' world, businesses struggle to manage and support the multitude of mobile operating systems flooding their environments, not to mention the hundreds of thousands of applications their employees might use every day," said Richard Greene, AppCentral president and CEO. "AppCentral is the first company to provide a cross-platform enterprise app store and management console that helps companies deliver on the promise of mobility while maintaining the necessary level of security and control."
AppCentral's new leadership team will also include former McAfee executives John Dasher and Michael Barnes. Dasher, formerly senior director of marketing for the data protection and mobile business units at McAfee, Inc., brings over 25 years of technology industry experience to his role as AppCentral's vice president of products and marketing. Barnes joins AppCentral as vice president of engineering having previously led the development of enterprise firewall products for McAfee, Inc.
"Richard and his team are seasoned industry veterans who bring the right mix of vision and experience to guide AppCentral through the next phase in its rapid growth," said Jay Jamison, Partner, BlueRun Ventures. "We're excited to welcome this new leadership team aboard."
