Procdure for operating with surface drives

Though, overall, surface drives are relatively simple pieces of equipment, operating a vessel equipped with these drives requires slightly different procedures than operating a vessel with a stern drive or water jets. As part of our project proposals, France Helices always includes a substantial amount of crew training, in particular with military and police vessels, since crews and personnel frequently rotate. Indeed, a big part of the training of our agents and dealers is related not only to diagnosing propulsion problems, but also to keeping our customers well trained in the operation of the SDS.

Though our training program is far more in-depth, and can vary based on the vessel, the following represents the basic operating procedures of our drives at first commissioning:

PROCEDURE FOR RUNNING WITH SDS DRIVES

1- START ELECTRICAL INDICATION PANEL BLACK SWITCH

2- WAIT UNTIL THE TRIM INDICATORS AND STEERING LED SHOWES NUMBER IN BETWEEN 0- to 23 °

3- START ENGINE

4- PUSH THE TRIM DOWN TO -7° ON BOTH SIDE

5- STEER THE WHEEL ALL THE WAY OF RANGE THE CENTRAL INDICATOR MUST SHOW – 23 – 0 – 23

6- PLACE THE WHEEL INTO 0 POSITION NOW THE DRIVES ARE TRIM MINUS 7 ( down) STEERING 0 ( central postion)

7-CLUTCH IN FORWARD AND MANOVER THE BOAT LIKE A CONVENTIONAL BOAT

8- INCREASE THE RPM UP TO 1000 AND TRIM UP BOTH DRIVES TO – 6°

9- INCREASE THE RPM UP TO 1200 RPM AND TRIM UP BOTH DRIVES TO – 5°

10- INCREASE RPM UP TO 1400 RPM AND TRIM UP BOTH DRIVES TO – 4°

11 – INCREASE RPM UP TO 1600 RPM AND TRIM UP BOTH DRIVES TO -3°

12 – INCREASE RPM UP TO 1800 RPM AND TRIM UP BOTH DRIVES TO – 2°

13- WHEN NEEDED INCREASE RPM TO MAXIMUM AND TRIM UP BOTH DRIVES UNTIL THE MAXIMUM RPM ARE REACHED IN CALM WATER

THE MAXIMUM TRIM POSITION MUST NOT EXCEED 4° UP IN ROUGH WATER ( above sea state 3)

THE MAXIMUM TRIM POSITION MUST NOT EXCEED 2° UP. HARBOUR MANOUVERING: ALL HARBOR MANOUVERING MUST BE OPERATED WITH TRIM DOWN TO MAXIMUM (MINUS 7°)

WHEN STOPPING ENGINE THE STEERING MUST BE 0° BEFORE SWITCHING OFF ENGINE.

IMPORTANT : FOR REVERSE EFFICIENCY BOTH DRIVES MUST BE FULLY DOWN

I am currently Sales and Marketing Manager, Asia / Pacific for France Helices. Created in 1977 by Paul BEZZI, FRANCE HELICES is today an international company. French marine propulsion leader, FRANCE HELICES is also one of the international leaders. Research and development are a very important part of FRANCE HELICES program, the CAD's department is equipped with the latest computer technology, using most up to date programs. Our engineers and technicians determine from the customers specifications and designs, the type of propulsion system to suit the boat's application. They can also advise on the ideal choice of power and optimum gearbox ratio to obtain the maximum thrust. There are many FRANCE HELICES' inovations and patents such as Surface Drive System (SDS) which enable boats to obtain very high speed with excellent handling capabilities and high quality Controllable Pitch Propeller systems (CPP) for both professional use and pleasure application. The constant research using cavitation tunnel testing, guarantees high efficient propeller blade shape for our customers. More than 20 000 propellers per year are manufactured by FRANCE HELICES workshops. In all sizes from small sailing boats to large fishing vessels to navy boats or mega yachts. The FRANCE HELICES workshops are equipped with modern foundries capable of casting propellers up to 3.5 tons in NiBrAl. They are also equipped with CNC milling machines and CNC lathe machines. FRANCE HELICES has four sites which cover the complete range of production. The development of FRANCE HELICES, supported by shareholders places our company as a leader in the international market and insures a constant development, worldwide, in order to be close to the end user.

IoT & Smart Cities Stories
When talking IoT we often focus on the devices, the sensors, the hardware itself. The new smart appliances, the new smart or self-driving cars (which are amalgamations of many ‘things'). When we are looking at the world of IoT, we should take a step back, look at the big picture. What value are these devices providing. IoT is not about the devices, its about the data consumed and generated. The devices are tools, mechanisms, conduits. This paper discusses the considerations when dealing with the...
SYS-CON Events announced today that IoT Global Network has been named “Media Sponsor” of SYS-CON's @ThingsExpo, which will take place on June 6–8, 2017, at the Javits Center in New York City, NY. The IoT Global Network is a platform where you can connect with industry experts and network across the IoT community to build the successful IoT business of the future.
Poor data quality and analytics drive down business value. In fact, Gartner estimated that the average financial impact of poor data quality on organizations is $9.7 million per year. But bad data is much more than a cost center. By eroding trust in information, analytics and the business decisions based on these, it is a serious impediment to digital transformation.
To Really Work for Enterprises, MultiCloud Adoption Requires Far Better and Inclusive Cloud Monitoring and Cost Management … But How? Overwhelmingly, even as enterprises have adopted cloud computing and are expanding to multi-cloud computing, IT leaders remain concerned about how to monitor, manage and control costs across hybrid and multi-cloud deployments. It’s clear that traditional IT monitoring and management approaches, designed after all for on-premises data centers, are falling short in ...
Machine learning has taken residence at our cities' cores and now we can finally have "smart cities." Cities are a collection of buildings made to provide the structure and safety necessary for people to function, create and survive. Buildings are a pool of ever-changing performance data from large automated systems such as heating and cooling to the people that live and work within them. Through machine learning, buildings can optimize performance, reduce costs, and improve occupant comfort by ...

Disruption, Innovation, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Leadership and Management hear these words all day every day... lofty goals but how do we make it real? Add to that, that simply put, people don't like change. But what if we could implement and utilize these enterprise tools in a fast and "Non-Disruptive" way, enabling us to glean insights about our business, identify and reduce exposure, risk and liability, and secure business continuity?
