GLENTEL Now Taking Orders for Palm Pre from Bell Mobility

Glentel Wireless, WirelessWave, Tbooth / la cabine T and WIRELESS etc to sell Palm Pre August 27

BURNABY, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwire) -- 08/04/09 -- GLENTEL today announced that customers can now order the new Palm® Pre(TM) phone exclusively from Bell Mobility. The much anticipated device, which operates on Canada's largest high speed network and is the first phone based on the new Palm® webOS(TM) mobile platform, will be available in GLENTEL stores starting August 27.

"We are delighted to be able to bring our customers the highly anticipated 3G Palm Pre, a Bell Mobility exclusive that delivers an unparalleled user experience. By placing orders now, our customers can ensure they get their hands on this innovative device that promises to be a "must have" smartphone this year," said Cary Skidmore, Vice President of Marketing for GLENTEL.

Palm Pre running on Palm webOS brings together your important information from where it resides - on your phone, at your work or on the web - into one logical view.(1) Palm Synergy(TM), a key feature of Palm webOS, pulls your contacts and calendars from places like Outlook, Google and Facebook, so everything is right there for you when you need it. Palm Pre also lets you flip back and forth between all the things you have open at once-instead of opening and closing them-so you can flow easily between applications without losing your place. The phone's exquisite design includes a touch screen and a physical keyboard that slides out only when needed for fast access to anything on the device or web.

The Palm Pre will cost as little as $199.95 on a three-year contract or $599.95 without a contract with a minimum 500 MB data plan. For more information on the Palm Pre, visit Bell.ca/pre.

IoT & Smart Cities Stories
While the focus and objectives of IoT initiatives are many and diverse, they all share a few common attributes, and one of those is the network. Commonly, that network includes the Internet, over which there isn't any real control for performance and availability. Or is there? The current state of the art for Big Data analytics, as applied to network telemetry, offers new opportunities for improving and assuring operational integrity. The Internet of Things is clearly many things: data collection and analytics, wearables, Smart Grids and Smart Cities, the Industrial Internet, and more. Cool platforms like Arduino, Raspberry Pi, Intel's Galileo and Edison, and a diverse world of sensors are making the IoT a great toy box for developers in all these areas. In this Power Panel at @ThingsExpo, moderated by Conference Chair Roger Strukhoff, panelists discussed what things are the most important, which will have the most profound e...

The Jevons Paradox suggests that when technological advances increase efficiency of a resource, it results in an overall increase in consumption. Writing on the increased use of coal as a result of technological improvements, 19th-century economist William Stanley Jevons found that these improvements led to the development of new ways to utilize coal. In his session at 19th Cloud Expo, Mark Thiele, Chief Strategy Officer for Apcera, compared the Jevons Paradox to modern-day enterprise IT, examin...
